75-year-old father killed in hit-and-run

Police are searching for the driver of a black BMW that they say struck and killed 75-year-old Be Tran. The incident happened in Queens New York near the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Hancock Street in Ridgewood at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, August 14.

His daughter spoke with ABC7 saying, “He was a very simple man. He never asked for much.”

Despite his daughters begging him not to work, Tran continued to earn extra cash for his family by delivering food. “The last message I got from him was don't worry," his daughter Anh continued.

Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.

His daughter has organized a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and legal fees here.
