In September, it was reported that Jeremy, a 6-year-old Asian American boy, was attacked in his sleep when a 39-year-old neighbor broke into the family’s Georgetown, TX home and attacked him with a bat. The attack left Jeremy with a shattered skull, fighting for his life. Sadly, Jeremy has passed away from his injuries.

The suspect, Daniel Logan, faces two first-degree felonies: injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member. According to KVUE ABC, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office said, "upon receipt of Travis County Medical Examiner's Office's findings, if warranted, law enforcement and the District Attorney's Office will present the case to a grand jury for the charges to be enhanced to capital murder."

Prior to the attack, Jeremy’s father said he spoke fluent Chinese, was studying Chinese characters, played the piano, and was excited to return to his jiu-jitsu training.

In a GoFundMe update, Jeremy’s father wrote:

“Early this morning I was checking him and noticed a pale face and eyes with no motion. Then his heart stopped.

They tried to resuscitate him, but it was not successful.

He fought for over 60 days and was improving, but at the end, the odds seemed against him and he gave up the ghost.

The last night before we were plunged into this nightmare, Jeremy told me that he had brushed his teeth and was ready for reading and bed. He took me by the hand and led me to his room.

When we were done reading, the last thing he said was, "papa, watch me cover myself."

Today I covered his face for the last time.

I was there when he took his first breathe and saw him take his last - no parent should see their children buried before them.

Thank you all for supporting us, and most especially for supporting Jeremy.

He was a wonderful and loving child that practiced the Golden Rule. In him I am well pleased.

The Lord gives, and the Lord takes. If it His will, then let His will be done. In the name of Jesus, Amen.”
