A 29-year-old Asian man has been hospitalized after being hit in the head with a hammer at the 14th Street subway station (1/2/3) in New York City. Just before the attack, the victim and the suspect got into a verbal argument after the two bumped into one another.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive. 

An investigation is ongoing but according to PIX11 News, the attack was investigated by the NYPD Hate Crimes unit and they’ve determined this attack was not racially motivated. 

The suspect is described as a man wearing a red leather jacket, jeans, red shoes, purple lipstick, and a purple wig.
