Chinese netizens are reacting to the thousands of Americans who have flocked to the Chinese app Xiaohongshu (also known as XHS, Little Red Book, or Red Note by some) amid the looming U.S. TikTok ban. As of this writing, the app is currently the top app in Apple and Google’s respective app store.
Many of the new American users who refer to themselves as “TikTok refugees” (😭) see Xiaohongshu as a TikTok alternative. It’s not really — that would be Douyin (China’s original version of TikTok) but this app isn’t available for download in the U.S.
