Michelle Kwan inducted into the Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame
Michelle Kwan has just been inducted into the Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame. “As the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, Michelle is a two-time Olympic medalist, five-time world champion and nine-time world championship medalist. She competed at the senior level for over a decade during the most competitive era of women’s figure skating and was the U.S. women’s champion nine times,” said a press release from Team USA.
In an Instagram post, Kwan wrote, “I’m beyond speechless to be included in the 2022 class alongside so many giants in the Olympic and Paralympic movement. My 7 year old self would never believe it. I still vividly remember watching the Olympics as a child mesmerized by my idol, Brian Boitano. My journey as an Olympic athlete was the ride of a lifetime! There is no higher honor than representing our country - and, I got to do that for more than a decade. I’m grateful for my family, coaches, choreographers, U.S. Figure Skating & so many others that supported me along the way. The Olympic creed is an ideal that I take with me wherever I go: “The important thing in life is not the triumph, but the fight; the essential thing is not to have won, but to have fought well.””
Many, many congrats to you, Michelle!
