In her recent appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers,’ supporting her new film ‘Star Trek: Section 31,’ Michelle Yeoh shares the story of how her mother helped kickstart her career.

In 1983, Michelle’s mother secretly entered her in the Miss Malaysia World beauty pageant. Michelle ultimately won the title and 40 years later became the first Asian to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once.’
