That time Ross Butler starred opposite Zendaya in Disney’s ‘K.C. Undercover’
Throwback to the time Ross Butler starred opposite Zendaya in Disney’s ‘K.C. Undercover’ nearly 10 years ago. In the show, Ross played the role of Brett Willis, the ex-boyfriend and former mission partner of Zendaya’s character, K.C.
"Zendaya was great,” Ross said in an interview with Seventeen.com. She's been in this industry for so long so working with her was super eye-opening even though she's 6 or 7 years younger than I am. At the time she was so well-versed, so I learned a lot from her."
In the same interview, Ross said his role was not originally written for an Asian actor. “The role was originally cast as African American and then they recast. I went in for the chemistry reads and I was the only Asian guy in the room. There were three African Americans, a caucasian guy, and me,” Ross recalled. "But when I found out that I booked it, I was like, 'Okay, this is something.' I booked a role that wasn't written for Asians and race didn't play into the character at all.”
