Dallas police are searching for a man who is suspected of shooting three Korean women at an Asian-owned hair salon. The incident happened on May 11 around 2:20p CT at Hair World Salon at 2216 Royal Lane in Dallas, Texas. The salon is in an area called the Asian Trade District, also known as the city’s Koreatown. Authorities say the suspect entered the salon, shot multiple rounds, and then fled the scene of the crime. The three female victims have been identified as the salon owner, an employee and a customer — all three were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive.

“We are in the early stages of this investigation, and we’ve not yet seen anything indicating at this time that this is a hate crime-related incident," said Dallas Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell. Although authorities say they do not have evidence that this is a hate crime, the FBI is assisting Dallas Police with the investigation, and have not ruled out the possibility of this attack being motivated by race or bias.

Police are searching for a suspect described as a Black male, 5’7” to 5’10” with a thin build, curly hair, and a beard. Anyone with information should contact Detective T. Johnston at 214.671.3523 or timothy.johnston@dallascityhall.com.
