A Filipino Town is coming to Las Vegas; the new cultural district was just unanimously approved by the Clark County Commission

It’s official — a “Filipino Town” is coming to Las Vegas! The new cultural district was just unanimously approved by the Clark County Commission.

Filipino Town is planned for a 1.2 mile stretch on Maryland Parkway, between Flamingo and Desert Inn Road. The cultural district will be anchored by a Seafood City supermarket and several Filipino-owned businesses at Boulevard Mall.

“Everybody is so joyful, so joyful for this day,” Rozita Lee, Asian American community leader and Las Vegas resident, said during the Commission meeting on Tuesday. “The Filipinos make a complete and wonderful contribution to this state … and we will continue to work together to make this Filipino Town, to make Clark County, the best ever in the nation.”

“The district is expected to host cultural festivals, public art installations, and small business initiatives that reflect the rich traditions and economic impact of the Filipino community in the region,” Asian Journal reports.
