All-around Olympic champion Suni Lee advances to the 2024 Olympic Team Trials
Then (Suni winning the 2015 Hopes Championships) vs. Now (Suni advancing to the 2024 Olympic Team Trials).
Congratulations to Suni Lee for finishing fourth at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships with an all-around score of 110.650 (55.750, 54.900) and taking silver on beam with a 29.100 (14.200, 14.900).
Although she is the reigning all-around Olympic champion, Suni’s return to the Olympic trials is significant as she continues to recover from an incurable kidney disease which forced her to put her training on pause for at least six months.
Suni and her doctors thought she may never be able to return to gymnastics but she’s training hard and remaining optimistic. “This comeback was so much more than my return to elite gymnastics,” she previously said on Instagram. “It was me proving to myself that I can overcome hard things, and to hopefully inspire others to never let life’s setbacks stop you from going after your dreams.”
Suni will compete at the 2024 Olympic Team Trials June 27 - 30 in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she will find out if she is selected to compete for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Games.
Good luck, Suni — YOU GOT THIS.
