Asian American drag queen Nymphia Wind advances to the finale of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 16
Very Asian is Team Nymphia!
Nymphia Wind, an Asian American drag queen from Taiwan, has advanced to the finale and will compete for the crown. In my honest and highly qualified opinion, all three queens in the finale deserve to be there, but Nymphia Wind is a cut above the rest. She is quality. She is taste. She is fashion. She is deserving. And she is the only competitor who has not landed in the bottom this season.
More than a pretty face (and pretty gowns iykyk), Nymphia has used every minute of her platform to highlight Asian and Taiwanese culture.
“Drag lets me reconnect with my culture, it teaches me to be a proud Asian. I come from Taiwan! 我來自台灣,” the queen said on Instagram.
It’s been 13 years since Raja Gemini took home the crown in 2011, and ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ hasn’t had an Asian winner then. We are long overdue for another Asian queen.
