Actor and activist George Takei speaks to ABC news about the history of violence and discrimination Asian Americans have faced in the U.S. for decades.

In the interview, George says, “From the moment that Asian immigrants stepped on the soil of the United States, the kind of hate and discrimination that we are still experiencing today began.”

“We would like the media to see the totality of us,” he concludes. “We are Americans.”
