Meghan, Duchess of Sussex speaks with Margaret Cho and Lisa Ling about the stereotypes that try to limit and define Asian women

In her newest podcast episode, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex speaks with Margaret Cho and Lisa Ling about the stereotypes that try to limit and define Asian women.

Meghan opens the episode by fondly recounting the Asian food and culture she enjoyed during her childhood in Los Angeles. She then says, “I hadn’t known all the stigmas and archetypes that so many women of Asian descent specifically had faced until many, many years later. Those terms, ideas, and stereotypes they just - they weren’t familiar to me. Like the ones we see in so many movies and throughout pop culture.”

Both Margaret and Lisa discuss Asian American tropes, their careers, representation, and the Asian American women who inspired them. For Margaret, it was Anna May Wong. For Lisa, it was Connie Chung. Asian representation matters.
